Current Concerns for the river and the life it supports

- Global warming- if our atmosphere keeps warming up our water will too. This warmth could affect wildlife that depend on the river in numerous ways like providing a place for bacteria to grow more easily.
- Drought- if the drought continues to grow even more severe, the lack of water flow in the Colorado could cause even more damage to the basins and wildlife who inhabit it.
- Population growth- if our population continues to grow at the rate it is now the demand for water will be almost 2 times what it is now in 2050.
- Dams and diversions of water- building of dams can cause erosion to the land, making it harder for soil to absorb water in the future.
- Since the Colorado river runs through the grand canyon, and whitewater rafting is a huge part of the tourist attraction there, therefore providing income. Without water, there is no tourist attraction as big as whitewater rafting which means less of an income. Rafting can actually have a negative affect too by hurting the species who inhabit the river. Not only can it disturb the peace of their home but it can also bring in non native bacterias and other foreign species.
